There is a huge art shop near me so I'll do a field test on Feldgrau colour matching and wash-offable-ness this week.
I painted a medic symbol on a bag with kid's poster paint for Churchill's Revenge, by the end of the game it had disappeared!
Right. As I understand it the binding agent in tempera paint is similar to wallpaper size - give it a good soak and it dissolves away.
Right - I've done a bit of experimenting with poster paint in a not very scientific way. I took some photos with my phone but I must have been pissed because they are mostly out of focus.
I started with a M1917 stahlhelm which was painted in Feldgrau oil based eggshell/grit mix about a month ago.
I started with applying some bright colours - a yellow and a red in order to see how well poster paint covers a different base colour. It doesn't. I did 3 coats of the yellow and the base colour was still grinning through. Left it to dry for 24 hours and then tried to wash it off. I ran it under a hot tap and sponged it. After about 30 seconds the paint softens and it comes off easily.
Weirdly, the poster paint had reacted with the eggshell base and stripped the sheen from the paint, leaving it a dead flat matt. The red had also left a slight stain.
Then I mixed up a pot of black and a pot of brilliant green. This covered a lot better. The colour was a not bad mix. It came off easily and without staining but took the sheen off the eggshell.
So in conclusion - it's a cheap way to change a helmet colour but may not be completely reversible depending on your paint finish. I suggest trying a bit first before committing yourself

It was called Play Poster Paint - Gouache. £4.60 for a set of six primary colours (about 20ml in each pot), basically the cheapest one I could find from my local corner shop. I mixed the black and the green in a 1:1 ratio and there was probably emough to do 2 helmets with a 1 1/2" brush.
Given the Heer discusions elsewhere, and despite the scenario forces list, is anyone now coming as Heer and would this be OK to do.
Reason I ask is, I don't want to upset the person(s) who wrote the scenario; I have'nt got my SS badges yet (which I will still need for other games) but it means less last minute sewing

Of course. You won't upset any of the CiA organisers. I think the general consensus amongst members is that it would be great to see everyone in Feldgrau, so heer is fine.
If that's not possible, wear what you got.

Just a brief reminder, would be nice if we can have everyone in field greys and helmets if possible. Leave the cammo smocks at home for this one gents .
